The Shropshire Hills and Clun Valley are synonymous with walking whether you’re a seasoned hiker or novice there are plenty of trails for you. Offa’s Pitch is only 150m from Offa’s Dyke Path and the area has some of the best preserved examples of the earthworks. Access to the Shropshire Way footpath is all around us. In Clun itself you can join one of several excellent guided midweek walks of varying length and ability. If you prefer cycling, the locality offers a plethora of scenic routes and the area around Bishops Castle forms a part of the National Cycling Network. The lanes above Offa’s Pitch towards the Kerry Ridgeway have panoramic views of the English-Welsh border country.

Things to do and places of interest are many and diverse and from this part of Shropshire you can access them all. You’ll find a number of attractive local villages and owns some of which have their Castles, Country Houses and Gardens. There is local culture in the form of theatres, museums and galleries and plenty of sporting things to do for the more adventurous including canoeing on the River Severn and even paragliding from the top of The Long Mynd. Surprising as it may seem when you’re staying at Offa’s Pitch you are also only just over an hour by car to picturesque seaside towns on the Welsh coast. You can savour the culinary delights delights of the region with everything from our local Fidget Pie to high dining in restaurants with Michelin stars. Food is king in the picturesque and internationally renowned Ludlow and it even has a 5 star sandwich shop! Locally you can tour the oldest brewery in Britain and cider has been made around here for centuries. Here at Offa’s Pitch we are only a short journey to the Kerry Vale vineyard and it’s Gold Award winning wines where the wine tasting is highly recommended. Although you will be self catering we can supply you with hot meals or ingredients if you require.
